5/5/15 Happy Cinco de Mayo, and Updates

Woof! Happy Cinco de Mayo to those who celebrate!

I have a few updates. Mom is feeling better and I am hovering over her like a white cloud. I accidentally stepped on her toe today and Dad was going to holler, but Mom patted me and said I didn’t mean it (I didn’t) so Dad calmed down right away. I think he’s worried about Mom, but she’s doing OK and I am ensuring it!

I have a bit of what I think is bad news about the feral cats.

This weekend was ridiculously nice outside, and one of the neighbors told Mom, “What’s going on with all those cats?” and Mom said she didn’t know if they had been dumped or if they wandered over from the horse stables, and the neighbor said, “I can’t stand cats and I am calling Animal Control!” Mom didn’t know what to say.

So far, we haven’t seen any kitties around, so maybe they overheard the conversation and beat it.

I will keep you posted. Thank you for all the nice comments and well wishes for Mom. She’s really feeling better, and you all make her smile.

Woof! Love, Maggie

I have a yard full of kittens and cats. They do tend to reproduce a lot. But I love watching them in our yard. Last year was a bad year for them. The weather was very hot, and there were a lot of fleas. A lot of them did not make it. It went from really hot to shivering cold. Some of them were wee babies. And there were some uncared for dogs who were hungry. I cried a lot.

I think our county does neuter and return. I really didn’t mind seeing the cats. When Mom found out her sister was sick, 6 cats appeared on the front porch. Mom’s sis was a “crazy cat lady” at one time. Mom said she knew Auntie was sick because she sent the cats. (she’s well now). You’re a nice person with a gentle soul for being concerned about the animals. I hope you are not crying anymore. I will always be here to lick your hand. Woof!

I do love animals. They know that, too. Thank you for the offer to lick my hand. That is always welcome. I’ll tell you a secret, Maggie. There are times when I prefer the company of animals to some people. 😉

Good to know Mom is doing better, though it sounded like she had lots of pain. Sorry about that!

Yes, I hope your county have TNR, too, though one hopes people wise up and neuter or spay their pets before they produce unwanted kittens and puppies. The bad part about feral cats reproducing is they are difficult to tame, so tend to become “dispensable” if caught by animal control, that is, have to be euthanized if there isn’t a TNR plan in that jurisdiction.

We are dutifully on the lookout. We only saw one yesterday. It’s been a long time, I don’t know where they’ve all gone. Woof!
