10/27/15 Little tidbits

I’m sorry I don’t have pictures to go with this post. I emailed some to Mom and she did not get them. Still not quite sure if computer problems are 100% solved.

Jamie was home sick again today. He’s been getting sick every 3 weeks like clockwork. Last time he had strep throat, plus he’s had a boatload (or should I say a nose full) of sinus infections, low grade fevers, and the like. Usually Jamie doesn’t say anything until Sunday, so it’s off to the urgent care, but today Mom corralled him and took him to see his doctor, who was none too pleased about the urgent care visits!

Anyway, the doctor said that Jamie’s allergy medicines weren’t working, and the mucus left behind was causing the repeat infections. She gave 3 medications and very specific instructions. Jamie is feeling better now, and has to go to school tomorrow. I’m glad he’s feeling better, but it was kind of fun having him home.

Dad said the pumpkins wouldn’t last and sure enough, they turned all rotten inside. Mom threw them away and Dad surprised everybody by getting four more. So the family re-carved pumpkins. Mom made a squirrel face, Dad and Jamie carved funny faces, and Erik carved a graveyard scene/dead tree with a body hanging from the branch and tombstones in the background. That’s the picture I sent to Mom but it didn’t go. If she gets it tomorrow, she’ll post it. Erik is very particular about carving his pumpkins. He wraps his arms around them and tells everybody, “No peeking!” Then, after everyone else is done and he’s still sitting there for half an hour, he finally puts the pumpkin in the darkened bathroom and lights it up for the big reveal. Ha ha! He’s funny.

Speaking of Erik, we have the small hot tub in the basement, and right there with it is a dehumidifier so that we don’t actually start growing moss downstairs. It’s Erik’s job to empty the water from the dehumidifier every day, so naturally Mom has been doing it. (insert frowny face). Well, Mom was taking the reservoir of water upstairs last night to dump in the toilet, (it’s clean water) and I decided to be a smartie and make a run for it (to try to knock her off balance) but instead I whacked the container and the cold water slopped down my back and BOY did I turn around and run in the other direction! Today Mom emptied the water and of course I accompanied her, but when I saw the white bucket-thingy, I kept a respectful distance.

It’s been rainy all day. Mom and I looked out the front window and saw the rain falling sideways in the light of the streetlamp. Mom says she got a pain in her stomach thinking that very soon, the rain will be snow. I have my paws crossed for a mild winter this year – the last two have been ruff.

Jamie and Mom threw the toy to me so much today, I am exhausted from running up and down the stairs. Time for a nap on the couch!

Woof! Love, Maggie
