3/2/16 Urp! About last night…

Hoo boy, I’ve been sick as a …

Don’t go there.

It started yesterday when Mom had to pick Jamie up and take him to the tutor. She knew she’d be gone for a while and wanted me to have something to do besides watch Ellen on TV. So, she bought me a big smoked shank bone from the grocery store. She checked it out, it wasn’t cooked, it was Made In The USA and didn’t look at all bad.

Mom gave me the bone and had to leave. I chewed the bone happily and had a great time.

Then I ate the bone.

Mom and Jamie came home and found the shards on the stairs. I cowered, thinking I was going to get in trouble for making a mess. I didn’t get in trouble. Mom and Jamie were concerned.

Mom was worried that I was going to get hurt from the bone. She picked up the splinters with a frown and told Jamie, “No more bones.” Jamie agreed. Later, I asked to go out and hurked all over the back yard. Mom and Jamie felt awful, too.

I lay down next to Mom and she heard the gurgling in my stomach. I was sick all morning. I got sick a few more times, but Mom cleaned everything up and had the Vet Alert going.

I’ve just been taking it easy all day. I didn’t need to see the doctor, but I certainly have been out of sorts. Mom says it’s all her fault. She says she never should have given me the bone or left me with it.

Lesson learned. I’ll stick to Ellen.

What do you mean, no table scraps? Not today!

Woof! Love, Maggie

Hindsight is a wonderful teacher of course but bones, and chew toys, should only be given under supervised conditions (the chew toys will usually state that in the “fine print” on the label). So glad that no damage was done! πŸ™‚

Oh, you poor baby. I hope you feel better soon. Your mom loves you so much. I’m sure she feels terrible about everything. It’s awful feeling icky, so snuggle under your blanket and rest until you mom tells you that things are back to normal. No more bones. That’s how life is. Humans aren’t supposed to eat the things they like either. Feel better Maggie and say hi to your mom.

Yes, I pulled a “Macy” is what Mom is calling it (looks sheepish) but she says she shouldn’t have given it to me in the first place. Woof!
