I went to the Vet today to get my staple out. Mom was flabbergasted by the amount of animals in the waiting room – she thought the Vet would keep me separated after what happened over there. A big Collie/Shepherd mix was barking it up and wouldn’t let me through the door. Jamie went into “Defense” mode (from basketball) and made a human corridor for me to get through. Mom was fuming that the lady who had the big dog wasn’t doing a thing about it. People do not take responsibility for their dogs, and somehow, Pits always get the blame. Mom was so hot you could have struck a match off her face.
I didn’t see Dr. Craig. I haven’t seen him for a while. Dr. Megan took the staple out by distracting me with spray cheese (who doesn’t love that, cheese in a can) and then pulling it out with what Mom said looked like cuticle trimmers. Mom’s stomach gave a lurch but I didn’t yelp; I just kept eating the cheese.
If I look wobbly in the picture, it’s because I’m wagging my tail so hard it’s making me shake. Mom promised me a treat if I let her snap a shot. She didn’t say it had to be a good one!
After we got home from the Vet, and away from all the barking dogs, Jamie and Mom turned their attention to blowing up pool toys. Jamie hauled Dad’s air compressor in from the garage – boy, that thing makes more noise than Vacuum Cleaner – and they blew up all of these floaties:
They filled up the corner of the kitchen! Mom says that she can’t wait to go in the pool, but the water is cold right now. Jamie says the solar blanket will take care of that.
We had a pretty good 4th of July. The humans’ BBQ was over relatively quickly, and so I didn’t get into (too much) mischief at home. Then Dad and Jamie went to see fireworks at Oak Fest. Mom put on some soft music, and a snuggly blanket, and we curled up together on the couch. Mom says we got the better end of the bargain – no hot crowds and deafening noises!
Mom says summer is going to fly by now, and soon Jamie will be back at school. She’s trying to hold on to every summer day and make them last. I think Jamie and Mom are going to brave the cold water tomorrow and go in the pool. I hope Jamie sprays me with the garden hose! I love to chase the water.
Woof! Love, Maggie
