5/10/13 The Visit – Reposted for my new followers. Woof!

5/10/13 The Visit

Today, a nice lady and a happy, smiling boy came to see me at the Shelter. They petted me and smiled a lot. The Shelter lady said it was, “a perfect match.” I kissed them a lot and was on my best behavior. The people said they wanted me, and wanted to take me with them right away. But they left, and I was put back in the kennel. My heart sank. I’ve been disappointed before. I don’t know what is going to happen this time. It was a long night. I did a lot of feeling. I’ve been here a long time. I’m very, very lonely and very, very worried.

(I know it’s a huge photo.  But it’s just so darn silly!)

Mom had to go to the VA Hospital to see Dr. L. for a checkup today.  Dr. L. keeps Mom in tip-top shape.  I’m really glad about that, because I want Mom around for a long time.  She’s a great source of Mommy-love and belly rubs.  Since the VA is kind of far, Erik came and sat with me for a bit so I wouldn’t be in the crate too long.  I guess I’m kind of spoiled in that regard.  We had a wonderful and fun visit!

My big, happy surprise came when Mom got home.  She gave me this cool stuffed bird (no squeaky toys for me)!  As you can see from the picture, I was grinning from ear to ear.  No, this is not a Photoshopped smile!

I smile a lot first belly rub in the morning, when I am so happy to see my master after the long, dark night.  That very first petting fills me with happiness, joy, and contentment.  I cannot suppress the grin stealing over my face or the thumping of my tail on the ground.  No matter what the day may bring, at that moment, I am filled with the golden smoothness of knowing that I am loved, and that I love right back.

Have you ever seen your dog(s) smiling?  Watch for it; it’s beautiful.

Love, Maggie

6/14/13 To My Humans

I adore you.

I love you despite your imperfect points

Your bad habits, your flaws.

In my eyes, they do not exist.

 I am devoted to you.

I am faithfully yours,

No matter what happens

Whether or not you get that job

Or what the future might bring.

I am protective of you.

I would lay down my life for you,

If you were in danger

For my life is empty and meaningless

Without you in it to love.

I love our everyday adventures,

And every new experience

All the time we spend together,

Even if we don’t go anywhere at all.

I miss you when you are away.

I watch the door anxiously,

Or wait at the window

Listening for the sound of your car

Or the jangling of your keys.

And when it is time for me to leave this world,

To finally part from your side,

I will go, secure in the knowledge

That I gave much more than 100%

And with much more than my whole heart,

Because…

I am your dog, and my love is unconditional.

Love,

Maggie
